A. A chick sat on a speaker, put her legs on stage and pissed.

A. It just happens, you know

Q. Who would you say your biggest musical influences are thus far and why? And how does it feel to be living
what could be termed the South African dream?
A. My dad and Wynand and it’s numbers to be living the dream

Q. Hoe het dit gebeur dat jy as die nuwe drummer gekies is enwas jy dalk i friend van die band of i baie groot fan(as jy groot fan was hoe het dit gevoel om vir een van die beste bands in suid afrika te ontmoed en saam hulle te jam? )!
A. I was originally supposed to be the drummer but got shnarfed out of the job. Was never really a fan till now.

Q. Wat is die beste gig wat jy al gedoen het en hoekom??
A. Billy Talent

A. Ya we must do more front covers for Sarie

Q. Besides drumming and living the dream that many dream about… What is your other passion in life, and would you give it up completely for drumming for VCK?
A. I enjoy playing lead guitar – as you would have seen with Fokof and no, I wouldn’t give that up for VCK

A. Ya baie

Well jeez I had nowhere else to go. I wanted to move to Cape Town after leaving One Day Remains. I did sound for Van Coke Kartel and liked the band. They recorded Skop, Skiet & Donner and were looking for a drummer to play the stuff live with them. It all just worked out. I was going to be the original member, but it took them three years to hire me.

Q. What drives you and keeps you motivated to do music….. especially in South Africa?
A. The guys I play with

Q. Lady Gaga or Madonna, which would you challenge to a drinking game?
A. Lady Gaga cause she’s been a bad girl

Q. Was dit vir jou weird om van ‘n “Christian Band” na ‘n openlike ” Non- religious band” te skuif? No offense teenoor Francoise & Kie. ( Ek is ‘n christen en alhoewel ek nie met julle religious views saamstem nie, is ek nogsteeds ‘n groot fan.Julle musiek is awesome!)
A. One day Remains wasn’t a religious band and no it hasn’t been a big change

A. Na, gave up boozing

A. Well first tell me how many kunts it takes to ask a question like that?

Q. Nou dat jy die land se vinnigste drummer is hoe beinvloed dit die manier van hoe jy oor musiek dink en nuwe songs wat jy doen?
A. It doesn’t change the way I think about songs because the guys I play with, can’t play fast

Q. How is it playing for an afrikaans band , previously playing for One Day Remains, this must be quite an experience for you?
A. No it’s not. I actually come from the Platteland

Q. Do you think its fair that, not only do you play in a great band but you also get your tattoos sponsored? (i heard a lil bird sing) besides that…well done, i think you fit right in
A. Yes it’s the perks of rocking out on the frontline

Q. What can you tell me about your instruments? (i.e., Are you subject to brand loyalty or will you play with whatever’s available? What made you choose the instruments you have now? Was it cost or was it a style/model/brand/color preference?
A. VCK is now sponsored by Marshall Music so I’m subject to brands they give me

Q. Who are your major influences?
A. Jon Bonham, Travis Barker and Jaco Snake Venter and especially Phill from the Mimers

Q. How has your music evolved since you started the band and now with the new members in the band?
A. Take a listen and you’ll understand

Q. What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous? Have the new members practised with VCK before them actually joining the band?
A. I never practised with them before joining and we then practised 4 times a week for 4hours

Q. What has been your biggest challenge as a band? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?
A. Making sure Wynand wears his knee guard and practises his scales

Q. How does in feel playing along side Francois and Wynand? How are you finding it playing for a Afrikaans band and what does the future hold? Anything the fans should get excited about?
A. It’s numbers playing along side the ballas and we have a world tour played for next year featuring Bouwer Bosch.

Q. Why out of everything thing that you could possibly do as a career did you choose music? And why drums?
A. I was forced by my parents. They didn’t give me sweets and let me play outside if I didn’t practise atleast 6 hours a day from the age of 3.

A. Ya I do wanna get in there and that’s why I’m learning to play bass so I can take over from Wynand cause he’s getting old and married.

Q. As jy alleen in die bos gestrand is met fran met net 1 slaap sak , 1 bottel jagermeister en net genoeg airtime vir 1 sms, sal jy die sms gebruik om dringende hulp te soek of sal jy scheme “fok it” die jager down, n vriend sms vir nog n bottel en die slaap sak deel? Haha

A. Yes we are… Currently song writing all together

A. I wanted to be as close to Frankie B as possible

Q. Wat se jou ouers van die feit dat jy die notorious Van Coke Kartel se nuwe drummer is? Is daar vir jou gepreek?
Is dit moeilik om by Francois en Wynand te bly met die drinkery of klap julle hulle onder die tafel in?
A. My parents are happy about me playing with them, they even shnaarf with Franny in a jacuzzi at there house and I think I can keep up with them at times.
